Gardening is a great Money Saver each year for us! Each spring we plant a garden in order to get some fresh vegetables at a fraction of the cost as well as to preserve them for other seasons. The average family saved $530 just by growing a garden, and I for one know that the seeds and plants cost me a lot less than that to get started!! Even if you just plant one or two plants you will be amazed at how much money you are shaving off of your grocery bill.
So did you see the numbers? The average person spends $70 on their gardens and saves $530 in food! WOW…. if you haven’t planned out your garden it’s time to get started! Request your Burpee Catalog here today!! It’s FREE!!
If you are unsure of what will grow the best in your area check out the map above. This map is a garden zone map that will help you figure out what plants will grow best in your area. Plan a gardening day with your family and the memories you make together will last forever!! We planted blueberries plants for the first time ever this year so in a few years we will have fresh blueberries and I can’t wait.
Or if you are a seasoned gardener you could purchase a portable greenhouse ranging from $30-$300!! This would be a great investment so that you have fruits and vegetables earlier in the season as well as later in the season. Which would improve your savings over time and more than pay for itself in as little as the first year. I’m not sure that I could keep up with a greenhouse and a garden!!
So make sure you plan ahead for your gardening time, save money by gardening, and have fun while doing it. Do you garden? Do you have any helpful hints you would like to share?
