Kids always love holidays because they are filled with excitement and new experiences. Halloween is usually one of the most exciting because they get to dress up as their favorite super hero, cartoon character, princess, or anything else in between. They see treats lining the store shelves and know it won’t be long and they will get to go and get free candy!! They can even act like a little monster in some cases and not get into trouble for it. What’s not to love?
As parents we are dreading the late night activities on a school night, finding the spookiest house on the block when we were paying attention, or so we thought! Not to mention the sugar rush and later the crush that will take place because they just want to eat one more piece of that delicious candy. But one thing is for sure, you know it will be worth it in the long run because the memories you are making are lasting for forever!!
One of the things that we do each year is go to the trunk or treat at one of our local churches. They have hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, bouncy houses, pony rides and of course free candy. There is even face painting and so much more that I am always wore out by the time we are done. It takes us a good couple of hours to do this trunk or treat so the “younger” kids get to have fun and then we split up and go our separate ways. The younger kids pass out the candy while the older kids get to go trick or treating, of course it is supervised but it is a win, win for us. Make sure and check your local area to see if there is a Trunk or Treat in your neighborhood you can take advantage of this year.
Halloween, as it is today, is constructed almost solely for children to enjoy the fun of dressing up in their favorite outfits or costumes and getting a chance to get plenty of treats to enjoy. Make sure that their Halloween this year is safe and packed with good times with a specially constructed Halloween adventure that’s just right for them.
