Why not spend a little time at a pumpkin patch? With all the colorful pumpkins and fun farm atmosphere, the pumpkin patch can be make for fun afternoon! Most pumpkin patches also have other activities such as tractor rides, activity areas, kid’s crafts and even a gift shops! It can be a fun time for kids and adults alike! Be sure and take a lot of photos! All those fabulous pumpkins and activities will make for some fun and memorable photos!
Have a scavenger hunt with your family. Walking in the cool Fall air is one thing, but why not have some fun with it? A scavenger hunt is fairly simple to put together and can be a real bonding experience. Working together to complete the game can be a great family bonding experience. There are so many things you can look for on a scavenger hunt in the fall. You can look for different colored leaves, pine cone, an acorn, caterpillar, birds nest……. the list can go on and on. You can also play in one of two ways. Either work together to complete it or you can have a little family competition and see who can finish first. Sounds like a fun afternoon to me!
Movie Night Outside
If your family loves movies, but you hate the high price of a family outing to the movie theatre, why not have your own at home in the nice fresh fall air? Set up your own theatre by carring your smallest TV into the backyard and set it up. Then, pop up a big bowl bowl of popcorn, make your cold drinks, and grab a blanket! Snuggle in and have an at-home outside movie night. You can even plan it for once a week so that each child, and adult, can choose the movie. It’s guaranteed to be a family hit!
Make Leaf Rubbings
Fall is a perfect time to let the kiddos express their artistic side. With Fall, there are all sizes, shapes and beautiful colors of leaves. So, grab the kiddos and head outside with some paper and crayons (tear the paper off the crayons). Then, have the kids pick out some different colored leaves. To do the leaf rubbings, they will need to place the leaves on a flat surface and place the paper on top of it. Using the side of the crayon, gently rub back and forth over the leaf until it makes an impression on the paper. There you have it! You’re new painting for the fridge!
Build a Campfire
Who doesn’t love a campfire? Fall is the perfect time to enjoy a campfire and family outing. You can relax by the fire, cook your meal, fix some smore’s, roast marshmallows and of course tell stories from your childhood to your children. Sounds great doesn’t it? It’s a great way to spend family time!
Go on a Hayride
Ready for some fun? What about good old fashioned hayrides? They are a barrel of fun! While you may not have a tractor, truck or big wagon to do it on the grand scale, you can do a smaller version that’s just as much fun. Using a riding mower, small wagon, a little hay or straw and a little imagination, you can have a grand time! Depending on the age of your children, you can make it scary or relaxing, depending on what kind of fun you want to have. After the hayride, serve up some warm apple cider to complete your fun.
Jump in a Big Pile of Leaves
What do you do with that abundance of leaves in your yard? Well before the shredding for the compost, pile them up in one big pile. A favorite and fun activity is jumping in the pile of leaves. How many of you did this as a child? Heck, even my dogs love to do it! To truly enjoy this activity, you have to get down and dirty with the leaves! If they aren’t sticking to every part of your body, including your hair you are just not having enough fun!!
With a little imagination, there are a ton of activities you can do that cost very little. Dream it up and then put it into action. Let your kids in on the daydreaming of something fun to do! Breath in the nice cool Fall air and have some good healthy fun and family bonding time. These activities can make memories that will last a lifetime. After all, that’s what it’s all about isn’t it?
So, tell me do y’all have any fun family activities you do at your house? We’re always looking for more to try, so let us know!
