Sounds a bit weird, but try it! It gives it a wonderful chocolate flavor! Whether you take your coffee plain black, or like to dress it up with cream and sugar, there are a lot of things you may not have thought of that would taste great in it. Check out these 5 fun things to put in your coffee to jazz it up a bit.
5 Fun Things to Put in Your Coffee
Salt. Yes, it sounds crazy, but a dash of salt in your morning java can reduce the bitterness. It is a great addition, especially when your brew turns out a bit too strong or the grounds are a little stale. When salt is used with a cold brew for iced coffee, it can help maximize the flavor.
Coconut milk. For those that love the taste of coconut, just add some coconut milk like you would with your flavored creamer and you now have a tropical coffee treat. Coconut milk is also great for iced coffee or when using coffee to make a blended beverage. When combined with a little vanilla extract, it is even tastier. A great idea is to mix the milk and extract in it’s on container and refrigerate for your own homemade creamer.
Ice cream. Instead of your regular milk or half and half, try adding a small scoop of ice cream for a milky smooth flavor and texture. Just pick your favorite flavor or just go with a simple vanilla bean.
Peanut butter. Okay, this sounds strange, but it is amazing. Add a dollop of peanut butter to hot coffee and stir until it well blended. It is also great with decaf coffee in the evening as a light dessert without too much guilt.
Maple syrup. Instead of using your regular sweetener, try using a good quality maple syrup as a replacement. The rich maple flavor gives your beverage a coffee house taste without the price.
