My little boy is getting so big so fast. He’s heading off to school in just a few short weeks. I know he is so excited about going to school. He can’t wait to be just like his big brother and big sister. A short time ago we were at Target and picked up lots of things for back-to-school including a lunch bag, containers, water bottle, and Wet Ones® Singles for wiping his hands before and after lunch. I’ve been planning his first day of school lunch for weeks! I wanted it to be full of all his favorites, but also something different and fun.
First Day of School Fun Lunch Box Idea
•Number (or letter) cookie cutters
•Grapes (or another favorite fruit)
•Carrot sticks (or a favorite veggie)
•Wet Ones® Singles
Assemble the sandwich as you normally would prepare it for your child.
Use number cookie cutters to cut the sandwich into number shapes. These make cute mini sandwiches and also help children remember their numbers.
I made two sandwiches and cut the numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6 out. I knew that I would be throwing away a bit of bread and crust but this is his very FIRST day of school!
Next, I covered the bottom of the sandwich size lunch container with lettuce. I added carrot sticks for a border and sprinkled grapes throughout, placing the number sandwiches in last.
Orin could not wait to have permission to dig into his special lunch.
He knew he needed to clean his hands first though and there were two individual packs of Wet Ones® in his lunch bag. One pack was for before eating and one for cleaning up after. He grabbed his packet, and with a little help, had it opened.
He happily went to work cleaning his hands so he could get started on his lunch.
Once his hands were clean he grabbed his number 3 sandwich, exclaiming that he is 3!
I know Orin is ready for school and I feel better knowing I’ve been teaching him about germs and doing what I can to keep him clean and healthy when he gets there. Wet Ones® Singles are a great addition to the lunch bag and perfect for tucking into the backpack too.
How do you keep your child clean at school, cutting down on the germs he or she brings home?
