Hey Mom! Are you prepared for the upcoming school year? The new school year isn’t just exciting for for your kids, it is also the time when you need to bring your very best family management skills forward. Are you ready? …. don’t worry, I can help with these back to school tips!
The busiest parts of the weekday occur within an hour before, and after, school. This is because it is the most unstructured parts of the day. If you want to take control of your mornings and after-school time, you have to begin preparing on the weekend with family scheduling and meal planning! It only takes an hour, or two, each weekend to prepare your family’s schedule and to plan your meals. When doing so, try to account for the unexpected by giving yourself wiggle room in your schedule and accounting for each meal (even snack-time #fuelforschool).
When it comes to quick and easy breakfast and snack foods, Walmart is our go-to place! Not only do we get great values at Walmart, I know they carry the Jimmy Dean® and State Fair® products that my family loves! Between the two, I have the perfect solution for easy and quick breakfasts and after school “I’m starving” snack times! I like to stock up at the beginning of the week so that I know my week is covered.
Jimmy Dean® and State Fair® want to help you get Fueled for School by helping you provide meal solutions for your family. They have you covered for the before-school breakfast, and the after-school snack! Ensure everyone starts smart and finishes strong with these easy, delicious solutions from Jimmy Dean® and State Fair®—always available at an Every Day Low Price at Walmart in the freezer aisle.
Back to School Tips for the night before:
I am a firm believer in that the best morning routines begin the night before! By taking a bit of time the night before to do these things will help cut down on the morning scramble!
- Have all homework, notebooks, etc. in backpacks and ready to go.
- Lay out clothing, shoes, etc.
- Prepare as much of their lunch as can be done.
- Sit backpacks, jackets, and shoes by the door for easy access.
- Have your morning plan ready.
Rise & Shine!
Mornings are always easier when everyone knows where they are going and what needs to be accomplished. Your child’s morning routine may cover:
- Making their bed
- Showering and getting dressed
- Putting their pajamas away
- Eating breakfast
- Clearing the table and dishes
- Preparing to leave with coats, shoes, and bags
Use the plan you created over the weekend to eliminate poor time management! Go one step further by displaying a written schedule on the fridge. See example below:

Make breakfast easy by preparing Jimmy Dean® Pancake & Sausage on a Stick for breakfast! Serve them with syrup, or many like them just as they are! They are fast to prepare and kids of all ages love them! This will allow you to enjoy a few extra minutes with your child with those leftover minutes in your morning schedule! If you have thirty minutes allotted and if you can compete breakfast in ten, that will give you twenty minutes of free-time with your child! When was the last time you had twenty minutes of free – no running around time – with your child in the morning before school? Or, if you have a child that likes to grab and go, the Jimmy Dean® Pancake & Sausage on a Stick is the perfect solution! No more excuses about skipping breakfast!
Win the After-School (Homework) Battle!
Just as the morning should be scheduled, start a routine after school too. When you and your child return home in the afternoon, allow them ten minutes to re-group and disconnect before they begin the next task. Offer a #fuelforschool snack, such as, State Fair® Beef Corn Dogs while you review the materials they brought home to complete. With a snack in hand, they will be much better equipped to tackle their pile of homework!
