Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods. We eat them year round in different ways, from simply adding butter on top to adding marshmallows and pecans. But, when it comes to the holidays, nothing beats true Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes! From the time I was a little girl, you can bet that a holiday meal did not pass without them being on the menu. Actually, I’m not sure it would be considered a holiday meal without them?!
I’m positive that this old time recipe for Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes is one your family will love. It will quickly become a favorite and you may find yourself eating sweet potatoes year round! Thankfully for you, it is very easy and simple to make with very few ingredients!
Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes
6 large Sweet Potatoes
1 cup sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 stick of butter
Peel and quarter potatoes.
Melt butter over medium heat. Add in sugar and spices.
Add in sweet potatoes and coat with the mixture.
Cover and cook over a medium low heat for 1 hour or until sweet potatoes are tender.
