Are you a sponge user in the kitchen? How about paper towels? I have been trying to be better about using so many paper towels. I am a paper towelaholic if there is such a thing. They are expensive and cause a lot of waste, but darn they are convenient! And as we all know, sponges are great but they harbor a lot of germs! Well, I have found an awesome eco-friendly alternative to sponges and paper towels! Have you heard of Skoy Cloths?

I received a couple of packages of Skoy Cloths to try out. They came in these fun colors and are about the size of a wash cloth. They actually feel like paper or cardboard until you wet them. I’m not sure what I expected, except that when you wet a paper towel you know it isn’t going to do much more.
I went ahead and saturated the Skoy Cloth with water.
After wringing out the water, it actually felt more like a sponge than paper. It was soft like a rag but with a spongy feel.
Call me strange, but I am a stickler about drying water out of my stainless sinks. I HATE water spots. Well, even wet, the Skoy Cloth dried the sink out! WOW! Even dry dish cloths have trouble claiming that! So, yes it is SUPER absorbent! Actually they can absorb 15 times their own weight!
The real test came when it was time to wash dishes and do some cleaning. The Skoy Cloth held up through washing dishes and household cleaning day. I used one to scrub the countertops, sinks, tub and shower. Even though I have been trying to cut out harsh cleaners, the Skoy Cloth can be used with popular household cleaners.
After using, I threw them in with a load of laundry to see how they would hold up in the washing machine. It worked like a charm! You can also wash them in the dishwasher and even nuke them in microwave for a couple of minutes to kill germs. I was amazed that something that felt like paper held up to all of that! The best part is, I didn’t use a ton of paper towels and didn’t have a germy dirty sponge to deal with! I have washed mine a few times now and so far so good.
I wanted to touch on one other point. You are probably asking why not just use a rag if you are going to wash them right? Well, Skoy Cloths are absorbent like a paper towel and work like a sponge. It’s as simple as that. There are some things paper towels and sponges can do that rags just aren’t cut out to do, if you know what I mean!
I would recommend Skoy Cloths. Skoy Cloths are a great alternative to paper towels and sponges! You can save money on paper towels and not have to deal with germy sponges. The Skoy Cloths worked great, held up to washing and I love how they are biodegrable.
