Soap Nuts Liquid Laundry Detergent Review

Around our house, we have been turning to more green and natural products and getting away from heavy chemical laden products, which can cause health problems. It’s no different when it comes to the laundry detergent we use. If you have severe allergies like I do, or sensitive skin, it becomes even more important to shy away from the chemicals. Have you ever switched laundry detergent to only end up with an awful itchy rash? Yep, that’s what I am talking about. So, in my search for a more natural laundry detergent, without the chemicals, I have discovered Soap Nuts by Green Virgin Products. If you haven’t heard of them, let me tell you a little bit about them.

Soap Nuts, that’s a strange name isn’t it? But, that’s exactly what they are – Soap Nuts! Soap Nuts are the fruit of the Chinese Soap Berry Tree. Sapindus Mukorossi soap nuts are harvested, dried in the sun and then the active ingredient, saponin, is water extracted to get a totally hypoallergenic, organic, non toxic and very effective detergent. Because it is a fruit extract, it is treated with an extremely mild preservative combination to increase the shelf life from a couple of weeks to two years.

The typical use of Soap Nuts Liquid is as an alternative for harsh chemical clothing detergents like Tide. One 8 oz bottle of soap nuts is good for washing 120 loads in a high efficiency washer, or about 80 in a conventional top load washer.

I was excited to receive a chance to try the Soap Nuts liquid laundry detergent! While I don’t have a high efficiency washer – just a run of the mill top loading washing machine, you can still use Soap Nuts. The recommended amount is 2 pumps for HE machines and 3 for top loading washers. So, for most of my loads, I use 3 pumps. If I have an extremely dirty load, like ground in dirt or grease I increase it to 4 pumps. My laundry comes out clean, smelling fresh and super soft! No need for fabric softener!

With the comparison of one bottle of Soap Nuts to a car load of other detergents, you can quickly see the savings! Not only is it a natural product without heavy chemicals, your pocket book will thank you too! These days, and I’m sure you know, the cost of any kind of detergent at your local store is like a small fortune! So, just imagine the savings!

Here’s a short video that fully explains how you use it and what it does:

I’m sure you want to know – does it work? I am extremely pleased with the Soap Nuts liquid! My clothes are clean and smell fresh. Oh, and as an added bonus they are super soft, even without using any kind of fabric softener (yet another savings)! I also feel better about using a natural product that is better for my family and the planet!

But that’s not all! In addition, diluted soap nuts make an amazing window cleaner and a stronger concentration of it is good for light duty cleaning like countertops. It’s basically an all around great product!
