Homemade Apple Butter
Ingredients:
6 Medium Apples – chopped (There is no need to peel the apples. It won’t affect the texture)
1 Cup Water
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3 Cups Granulated Sugar
Directions:
Using a large saucepan, start by cooking the apples in 1 cup of water for about 10-15 minutes or until the apples soften.
Remove from the saucepan and using a blender, blend the apples until smooth. Return to the saucepan. along with the rest of the ingredients.
Gently simmer for about 2 hours. You will need to stir often to prevent the mixture from sticking and burning on the bottom of the pan.
The apple butter is ready when it darkens and thickens or when drawing a spoon through it leaves a clear trail.
Transfer into sterilized mason jars leaving about 1/4 inch headspace.
Seal with two-piece vacuum seal lids and heat process the jars in a water bath for 5 minutes.
Store in a dark, cool place.
Makes 3 Medium Jars
Keeps for up to 6 months, refrigerate after opening.
Enjoy!

mmm…going to make some with this bag of apples I have…thanks for sharing
My grandma use to make apple butter. I haven’t had any homemade apple butter in years. I love it on hot buttered biscuits. Yummy.. thanks for the recipe.
I am anxious to try this recipe (even though I don’t have any apple trees of my own). Sounds delicious.
I haven’t had good apple butter in a long time. Seeing your post brings back nice memories.
This recipe sounds so wonderful. I can’t wait to make it.
thanks for sharing this recipe-gonna make me some
This sounds so good. I can’t wait to make it.
i love apple butter.. brings back so many memories of my mother.. when we were young my mother canned or froze all fruits and vegetables that we raised.. i do some but never realized just how hard it was to plant, tend, gather, prepare and then put up for the winter until i tried to do it..
Why couldn’t I have seen this before I bought a whole jar of apple butter?! Ugh. But, it sounds like it would be delicious. Once I run out of the jar stuff, I’ll definitely try this. I’m sure it’s much better than the store bought stuff.
I make apple butter in the crock-pot. I just core them. after cooking down, I put them in the blender and pulse them quickly. back in crock-pot for 1 hr. with sugar and spices added then. the peels are part of the taste and fiber.
This looks delicious!! Perfect for this time of season.
Looks delicious and resonably simple to make. Thanks for sharing.
I love apple butter and would like to try this recipie thank you
I printed this one out. Years ago my son’s mom and I made apple butter and it was really good. I would like to make some again with my fiance since we both love apple butter. Thanks for the recipe.
I can just smell it now. I think a baked apple with the same ingredients will have to do since I don’t have the canning items. Makes me want to start canning though.
Yum! can’t wait to try this.
I made this and my family loves it.
Pinned and tweeted, that’s how excited I am to have found this amazing recipe!! This would be a fabulous addition to my link party Making Memories Mondays going on now! I would love for you to stop over!

I love apple butter! I have never made any, but have pinned this recipe to try. My biggest fear is the actual “canning” part – the sterilized jars, water bath, etc. I am sure that once I do it, it will not sound so intimidating, I’ve just never tackled it. Just thinking about that apple butter on a biscuit though…
This looks delicious, I will have to try to make this soon.
Hi Diane, My kids have been asking me to make apple butter for a while now so this fall I am going to try and make your recipe. It looks delicious! Thanks so much for sharing your recipes at Dream. Create. Inspire. Link. I pinned all 3 of them:). Have a great weekend and take care, Tara
