How to Organize Your Car to Accommodate a Large Family

The holidays are quickly approaching and most Americans are headed somewhere for their holiday vacation. Whether it’s to a friend’s house or to visit family, traveling during the holidays is no joke. Organizing your car to accommodate a large family doesn’t need to be nerve-wracking though. Check out these tips for organizing your car to make plenty of room for your family.

How to Organize Your Car to Accommodate a Large Family

Remove Everything You Don’t Need
Most people have items in their vehicle that they no longer need. However, finding time to get those items out of the vehicle can be hard. If you want to make room in your vehicle for your large family, removing everything you do not need out of your vehicle is a must.

Buy Vehicle Organizers
Sometimes there are items that need to stay in your vehicle, but they are strewn all over the place. Take organizational matters into your own hands by taking the time to buy vehicle organizers. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy and there are several options you can choose from. You can buy organizers that hang on the back of the seat or you can purchase organizers that sit in the middle of the seats. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s not bulky and still leaves plenty of room in your vehicle.

Get Rid of All Paper Clutter
For some reason, paper seems to be something that collects in vehicles. Whether it’s papers from school or papers from bills, get rid of everything. Switch to paperless billing or take your papers inside to be organized.

Assign Everyone a Seat
In larger families, it’s easier to organize a vehicle if you know where everyone is going to be sitting. That means you can leave leg room where it’s needed or utilize extra space where you can. While the kids may not love having an assigned seat, it sure does help with keeping things organized.

Car Activity Bags are a Must
If you will be traveling this holiday season with a larger family, you can stay organized in several ways. Car activity bags are great for keeping order in your vehicle. Every child gets one bag and they can fill it with whatever they want. However, when they’re not using something it goes back in the bag. And everything must be cleaned up before anyone gets out of the vehicle.

Keep the Trunk Space Open
Have you opened up your trunk to see what is lurking in there? You can really get your vehicle organized for your larger family by not cluttering up the trunk. Trunks are very important for large families because it gives everyone space while seated. Take time once a week to declutter your trunk, so you always have extra room for groceries or other items when needed.

Traveling for short or long distances can be chaotic if your vehicle isn’t organized when you have a large family. If you can’t seem to get organized, maybe it’s time for purchasing a bigger car, you’re the only one that can determine that. Do you have any tips to add?
