I love a good family gathering. Seeing all of my closest family members, sharing stories with them and sharing a good meal is something that I’ve always loved, even as a child. Now that I’m well into my grown up years, gatherings are still on my list of favorite functions to attend but now I can impress my fellow guests with meals and treats of my very own. Homemade macaroni & cheese and my fabulous deviled eggs are among my favorites, but recently everyone is going crazy about my quick and easy recipe for Guacamole Dip!
Delicious and easy to make, this Guacamole Dip is great if you’re attending a party or backyard barbecue. It’s sure to please everyone from the littles to the adults and goes great with tortilla chips, your favorite potato chip, or try this amazing Homemade Smoky Pita Chips recipe! If you’re looking for a quick, easy and fabulous contribution to your next gathering or even game day coming up, this dip is the one to try!
Quick & Easy Guacamole Dip Recipe
Ingredients
2 large, ripe avocados
2 tablespoons salsa
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 green onion, finely sliced
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
2-3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
Cube the avocado and place it in a large bowl. (see note on how to do this below)
Add the sour cream and mix with a fork, slightly mashing the avocado as you go.
Add the salsa, cilantro, and lime juice, and continue mixing until it’s the consistency you like. Some like it chunkier while others like it more smooth.
Add the salt and pepper and taste. Adjust the seasonings and lime juice to your liking.
(makes appx. 2 cups)
Enjoy!
Notes:
To cube the avocado, slice it in half and remove the pit. Using a paring knife, make a crisscross pattern in the flesh, being careful to not go all the way through the skin. Use a spoon to scoop it out.
If you like your guacamole with a kick, you can add very finely diced jalapeño, cayenne pepper, or hot sauce.
The sour cream is the secret ingredient that makes this extra smooth and creamy!
Using store-bought salsa makes this quick and easy and eliminates the chopping of onions, tomatoes, and garlic. That said, you could substitute the salsa for finely chopped vegetables if that’s what you prefer.
If using store-bought salsa, I recommend using a basic variety so you don’t have odd flavors in your guacamole.
